On Friday, January 27th, the City Year Seattle/King County corps had the opportunity to plan and prepare for the lives they will lead beyond their service year. Sarah Maynard and Chris Burns, longtime Starbucks employees who work to create an effective and highly qualified team of personnel, used their expertise in hiring and training to provide corps members a great overview to an effective resume and cover letter. Their individual and group support will surely have a lasting impact on the Life After City Year (or LACY) plans of Seattle’s corps members.
Life After City Year is an element of City Year’s training designed to support corps members in their plans after their year of service. One of the many City Year graduation requirements is in fact a LACY plan, which must entail what each corps member plans to do after graduating, whether that is attending school, returning to school, getting a job or returning to another year of service.
Thank you, Starbucks, for helping corps members achieve the goals they wish to attain after serving a year as mentors and tutors in Seattle’s public schools!
