Seattle Raises a Glass for Diplomas!

On March 1st, City Year hosted “Drinks for Diplomas” at The Nabob Bar in the lower Queen Anne neighborhood. The event provided the opportunity for conscientious young professionals who believe in the importance of education, to network with their peers and hear how City Year is making a difference for Seattle’s most vulnerable students and schools.

Everyday, City Year corps members across Seattle provide targeted support and interventions for students who are at risk of dropping out before their high school graduation. Drinks for Diplomas guests had the opportunity to learn about the impact that corps members are having  with the students they work alongside.

The first 50 guests to arrive at the event received a free drink ticket and everyone enjoyed free appetizers and the chance to win a free Nokia Lumia 710 phone, secured by host committee member,  Michael Nguyen.

In total over 110  people joined us for the evening – we were thrilled with the attendance and outpouring of interest in education from the community. The success of the event was in large part due to our fabulous host committee. Committee members generously donated their time over the course of three months to support City Year.
